SITE HISTORY AND INFO Well, usually sites are made to give information. This one had been made especially to gather info on Gabrielles Wish (with or without the apostrophe, as they had also been known as Gabrielle's Wish, let's say Gabrielles is easier for websites...), a very talented band on Rob Gretton's (manager of New Order) label, who had a cult following which was too small. But they meant a lot to those lucky few. They were from Manchester. They played the sound of Manchester. In their own way, an evil mix of the post punk of Joy Division and Section 25, the madness of the Fall, the noise of Nine Inch Nails, sometimes experimenting with ambient, recalling Eno. The suburbs of Manchester had a soundtrack. They split up somewhere in 2003, and almost everything disappeared from the Internet: their site, their label's site, and even their E Mail address. There were only small bits about them left on the web, but they were not enough. Almost every band on the planet had a website dedicated to them. They were special, their intense live performances and their excellent recordings meant that they must continue to have one too. This was the reason for me to create GabriellesWishWeb, on a free Geocities account, as a fan. I knew too little about them so GWW was a site which, as much as giving answers, made questions. The few answers I had were placed here. The very few info already available on the web was being used here. But especially the info you visitors were (and still are) contributing (anything missing about discography, images, lyrics, biography etc. is much appreciated, please go on, we still need you) is appearing here and will be fully credited, many thanks. The former band members have discovered and appreciated what I've been doing, and asked me to declare GabriellesWishWeb as the new official Gabrielles Wish site. This makes me extremely proud and happy, being the webmaster for a band of which I am such a fan is a dream coming true. They have been helping and will help this site with many updates. Of course the happiest update has been the announcement of Gabrielles Wish reforming, 15 June 2004! A few days later the new address of the site has become http://www.gabrielleswish.com Since April 2005 the site is on a new server, bigger, faster and ad-free, the same hosting the site of the new label of the band, Small Adjustments. The original address of the site is http://www.smalladjustments.com/gw/index.html and if you wish you can click it to see the site on a new window out of the gabrielleswish.com frame with the original addresses of the pages. Since the summer of 2006, thanks to Andy, a true fan from Manchester, there's also Gabrielles Wish on MySpace, a profile with four full exclusive streaming tracks, news and a message board for fans. Anyone can still help to make the site more and more complete. To contribute please E Mail me: webmaster@gabrielleswish.com (or mickem159@yahoo.it ) Mick Aneworderfan |
